Sporting Clube de Portugal star Viktor Gyökeres has reportedly decided on his next move.
The 26-year-old Swedish striker has been heavily linked with a transfer after another standout season. So far in the 2024/25 campaign, he has netted 34 goals and provided seven assists in 33 appearances for the reigning Portuguese champions.
His impressive performances have attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona.
However, reports from November 2024 suggested that Gyökeres had already chosen his next destination. According to The Sun, he is keen on a move to Old Trafford, where he would reunite with his former manager, Rúben Amorim.
A report from SunSport stated: “Sporting Lisbon striker Gyökeres is determined to join the Premier League and reunite with ex-boss Rúben Amorim at Manchester United.”
Before taking over at United, Amorim was asked about the possibility of working with Gyökeres again. He responded:
“No, no, no. I can’t joke about that right now. Leaving was already tough for me, and if I start making jokes with Gyökeres, I’ll have problems. This is my city, my country—I have to show respect. Viktor should stay until the end of the season, and then we’ll see where life takes him.”
Gyökeres also spoke about Amorim’s departure, saying:
“Of course, we will miss him a lot. We achieved a lot together, and we will miss him and the other staff members. But they are leaving, and we have to move forward and face the next challenge.”
