Viktor Gyökeres drops hint to Arsenal with cheeky three-word response

Arsenal transfer target Viktor Gyokeres gave Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta three more compelling reasons to pursue him this summer with a standout performance on Friday night. The Swedish striker is among the forwards being considered by the Gunners as the transfer window approaches.

Since his move from Coventry City to Portugal, Gyokeres has been in sensational form. After scoring 43 goals in 50 matches last season, he’s already surpassed that tally this campaign.

On Friday, the 26-year-old struck again, netting a hat-trick in Sporting’s 3-1 victory over Moreirense. This came after a rare goalless outing against Santa Clara, which broke his six-game scoring streak. The hat-trick marked his fifth of the 2024/25 season.

He opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a close-range finish, added a second with a powerful drive past keeper Kewin, and completed the treble with a flawless free-kick after the break.

Speaking to Sport TV post-match, Gyokeres was asked about his future in Lisbon. He responded, “The future? Nobody knows what will happen, we’re just enjoying the moment.” When asked about a potential reduction in his €100m release clause, he added, “I can’t comment on that.”

In another interview, when questioned if he liked London, Gyokeres laughed and replied, “I like Lisbon.”

Arsenal are reportedly leading the chase for his signature, with Manchester United unlikely to match their financial muscle. While his release clause is set at £85 million, there are hints that Sporting may be willing to negotiate slightly below that figure.
