Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a move for a highly rated £60 million forward, described as “insane,” following the capture of Conor Gallagher.

According to the Independent, Tottenham Hotspur have a long-standing interest in the £60 million-rated French attacker Maghnes Akliouche and are considering making a move for him this month, having previously tracked him last summer.

While Spurs are expected to strengthen their left-back and central midfield areas in the coming weeks, the club are also keen to add a new forward in January, with Akliouche fitting the profile. The 23-year-old has mainly featured on the right wing for Monaco this season but is also comfortable operating in a central attacking midfield role.

Tottenham had explored a move for Antoine Semenyo earlier this month before his switch to Manchester City and were also interested in Eberechi Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White during the summer window, highlighting Thomas Frank’s intention to reinforce his attacking options.

Spurs have renewed their pursuit of Akliouche as they close in on the signing of Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher. The North London club recently agreed a £35 million deal to beat Aston Villa to Gallagher’s signature, while an agreement has also been reached with Santos for left-back Souza.

Tottenham are continuing to support Frank in the January transfer window after a challenging Premier League campaign that currently sees the club sitting 14th in the table. They were also eliminated from the FA Cup by Aston Villa at the weekend.

Akliouche, who has one goal in five appearances for France, is a tall and technically gifted forward. He has been described as an “insane” talent with a “left foot made of gold” and has recorded 19 goals and 22 assists in 119 appearances for Monaco.

In addition to Akliouche, Spurs have been linked with West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta and Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz. Reports from Spain suggest Tottenham have submitted a £52 million bid for Diaz, who, like Akliouche, is capable of playing either on the right wing or in a central attacking role.
