Tottenham are pushing to land a fourth Manchester City forward, with the proposed transfer now finally receiving the green light.
Tottenham have endured frustration in their pursuit of Manchester City attackers, missing out on two targets and losing the race for Antoine Semenyo. However, their fortunes could finally change with a fourth option now cleared to depart.
Spurs remain determined to strengthen their attacking options, having struggled for cutting edge throughout the season. Long-term injuries to Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison have further reduced Thomas Frank’s attacking choices, increasing the urgency for reinforcements in the final third.
Last summer, Tottenham attempted to sign Savinho from City, but Pep Guardiola’s side refused to negotiate despite early indications a deal could be possible. TEAMtalk also revealed that Spurs explored a move for Omar Marmoush ahead of the winter window, only for City to beat several rivals — including Tottenham — to the signing of Antoine Semenyo.
Semenyo’s arrival is expected to trigger the exit of one City attacker, though it will not be Marmoush. According to Football Insider, Oscar Bobb has now been given the green light to leave, with the 22-year-old winger set to make way.
Bobb, a left-footed wide player capable of operating on either flank, is attracting interest from three clubs this month: Borussia Dortmund, Crystal Palace and Tottenham. The report states that Spurs are preparing a move for his signature, while City are open to either a permanent sale or a loan deal until the end of the season, including an option or obligation to buy.
A possible complication is Bobb’s current hamstring injury. Although it would not prevent him from passing a medical, any club would be signing a player who would not be available immediately. Despite this, a deal remains achievable if Tottenham move decisively. However, both Football Insider and TEAMtalk sources believe Dortmund and Crystal Palace are currently better positioned to complete the transfer.
Dortmund are said to be leading the race, potentially aided by their reputation for developing young talent. Crystal Palace also hold an advantage, with City expected to maintain strong relations following their recent business involving Marc Guehi, which could give the Eagles priority in future negotiations.
If Tottenham are serious about securing Bobb, they may need to act quickly to avoid missing out once again.
