Tottenham are preparing a major bid to outmuscle Liverpool in the battle to sign the highly rated star.
Tottenham Set to Make Big Move for Yan Diomande Amid Liverpool Interest
Tottenham Hotspur are going head-to-head with Liverpool in the chase for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Spurs are understood to be eager to bring in the Ivory Coast international during the January transfer window and are willing to submit a significant bid if the chance presents itself.
Liverpool have monitored the forward for some time, but a move from Anfield is not expected to happen this month. Nixon reports that Diomande could be available for around £40 million in January, despite earlier claims that Leipzig valued him at closer to £87 million (€100 million).
Spurs Ready to Step Up Interest
While Liverpool view Diomande as a longer-term option, Tottenham could accelerate their pursuit before the window closes. The North London club are planning to spend in January after a difficult first half of the season under Thomas Frank, having recorded just seven wins from 21 league matches.
Tottenham are also close to confirming deals for left-back Souza and former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who is currently undergoing a medical.
Diomande only arrived at Leipzig from Leganes ahead of the season but has made a strong impression in the Bundesliga. The highly rated winger has scored six goals and registered three assists in 14 league games, along with two more goal contributions in the German Cup.
Spurs also have recent transfer dealings with Leipzig, having signed Xavi Simons for £51 million during the summer window.
Injuries Increase Need for Attacking Reinforcements
Tottenham’s interest in Diomande comes as little surprise given their injury problems in attack this season. Dejan Kulusevski has been unavailable, while Dominic Solanke has seen limited action. Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Bergvall have also missed matches in recent weeks.
Richarlison was the latest to join the injury list after suffering a hamstring issue in the FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa. James Maddison and Destiny Udogie have also faced fitness setbacks, and midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is expected to be sidelined for three months with a hamstring injury.
Paris FC Approach for Mathys Tel
Spurs have received an approach from Ligue 1 side Paris FC for winger Mathys Tel, but the club are keen to keep him due to their current injury situation.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tel is seeking a move to secure more regular playing time in order to strengthen his chances of making France’s World Cup squad.
