The top-ranked Fantasy Premier League (FPL) manager from the past two seasons has shared some valuable insights ahead of the 2025/26 season.
With the Premier League set to kick off in just five days, fans are gearing up for the new campaign. Defending champions Liverpool will open the season at home against Bournemouth at Anfield on August 15.
As gameweek one approaches, excitement is building—especially among FPL enthusiasts.
Managers must confirm their squads 90 minutes before the first match of each gameweek, which means this week’s deadline is 6:30 pm BST on Friday.
With over 500 players available, narrowing down your selections can be a challenge—but advice from the top-performing FPL manager of the last two years might help.
Keyuran Govender achieved an impressive overall rank of 13 in the 2024/25 season, after finishing 229th globally the year before.
In an interview with All About FPL, Govender admitted: “I honestly didn’t know I was the number one ranked FPL manager across the past two seasons until the end of July! It’s been an incredible couple of years, and I’m really thankful for how things have gone.”
He also shared some of his strategies for preparing each gameweek, including following multiple data-driven FPL accounts for up-to-date stats and insights.
“My top three accounts on X are The FPL Wire Podcast (with Pras, Pranil, and Zoph), AllAboutFPL, and BigManBakar,” he noted.
So what does his current draft look like?
Unsurprisingly, Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, along with Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, feature in his team.
Govender is also backing a few under-the-radar picks to shine this season.
“[Niklas] Fullkrug is a player I’m really excited about—he’s locked into my squad. He’s been great in pre-season, scoring three goals in his last three matches. I think he’ll be a strong differential for gameweek one,” he said.
He also highlighted Wolves’ Jhon Arias, who impressed at the FIFA Club World Cup, and Brentford’s Antoni Milambo, who he previously used in UCL Fantasy. “If Milambo can secure a regular spot, I think he could be a great budget option,” Govender added.
