Thomas Frank’s exit from Tottenham now looks unavoidable following a striking revelation from respected journalist David Ornstein. Speaking on NBC Sports, Ornstein confirmed that it is now a “matter of when, not if” Spurs decide to part ways with the 52-year-old.

Ornstein revealed that frustration is no longer limited to supporters, but is also shared by the club’s hierarchy. He added that several players are unhappy with the current direction of the team and are “understandably dissatisfied” with Frank’s performance. While stressing that Frank is “not a bad manager,” Ornstein suggested he is simply the wrong fit for Tottenham, leaving little chance of a turnaround.

In the short term, Spurs are expected to place recently appointed assistant coach John Heitinga in temporary charge for the remainder of the season. The 42-year-old Dutchman, who previously played for Ajax, Atletico Madrid and Everton, has also held coaching roles at Ajax and worked under Arne Slot at Liverpool. He joined Frank’s staff on January 15, although it now appears the club may have had a broader role in mind for him.

Looking ahead, Tottenham are already assessing long-term managerial options. Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, who has confirmed he will leave his current role this summer, is reportedly under consideration. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola and former Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino are also believed to have been discussed by the board.

According to talkSPORT, there is growing encouragement that Pochettino could return to north London. The Argentine, who managed Spurs between 2014 and 2019 and guided the club to a Champions League final, is said to be open to a Premier League comeback and interested in resuming his career with Tottenham. However, any move would likely be delayed due to his current commitment as head coach of the United States national team, a role he has held since September 2024, with his focus firmly on the 2026 World Cup.

Tottenham have also been linked with former Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso, though recent reports suggest the Spaniard is unlikely to pursue the role, believing more prestigious opportunities may soon arise.
