Thierry Henry Backs Arsenal to Win 2025/26 Premier League, Snubs Liverpool Despite Their Dominance
Thierry Henry has overlooked Liverpool when naming his pick for the upcoming Premier League champions, instead backing his former club Arsenal to finally end their long title drought. Last season, Liverpool claimed their 20th league title—matching Manchester United’s record—in commanding fashion under new boss Arne Slot, finishing 10 points ahead of runners-up Arsenal.
Many pundits believe Liverpool have also had the strongest transfer window so far, breaking the British transfer record for Florian Wirtz and securing Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong. They’re still actively pursuing a striker, with Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike on their radar.
Despite Liverpool’s momentum and seemingly superior squad, Henry—widely regarded as one of the greatest players in Premier League history—believes Arsenal are ready to go all the way. If the Gunners triumph this season, it would mark their first league title since the Invincibles era in 2004.
Henry: “It’s Time Arsenal Go All the Way”
Speaking on Men in Blazers, Henry expressed full confidence in Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, praising the Spaniard’s work despite the lack of major silverware after six years in charge.
“Do I think Mikel Arteta is doing a great job? Tremendous job,” Henry said. “Do I think he should get the sack? Hell no. Am I going to think we’re going to win the league this year? Yes. It’s been good, it’s got to be better.”
He acknowledged doubts from fans and critics alike but argued that consistent second-place finishes show the team is learning and progressing.
“You’re not going to win all the time,” he added, “but to be in a position to win, you first need to learn how. That’s what Arsenal have done recently, and hopefully, they’ll finally go over the line.”
Turning Near Misses Into Glory
Arsenal have finished as runners-up in each of the last three seasons, narrowly missing out on the title despite showing promise. While some fear they’ve already missed their best chance, Henry believes the team’s resilience and Arteta’s leadership will prove vital.
Still, there’s a growing sense that the Gunners must convert their potential into results soon—or risk being remembered more for their shortcomings than their achievements.
