Thiago Alcântara reacts to Liverpool supporters’ chant about him during the title celebration parade.

Posted on May 29, 2025 By Dailynewsupdate No Comments on Thiago Alcântara reacts to Liverpool supporters’ chant about him during the title celebration parade.

Thiago Alcântara, the former midfielder for Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona—who secured two Champions League titles during his career and celebrated two major trophies with Liverpool—has responded after fans were seen singing his chant.

During Liverpool’s title parade through the streets of Merseyside, particularly along The Strand, supporters began singing Thiago’s name. In response, the Spaniard shared the video on social media, captioning it with “YNWA” and a heart emoji.

Although Thiago spent four years at Anfield, his playing time was limited to just 68 matches due to recurring injuries. He officially retired in 2024 and has since transitioned into coaching. He has spent time at Barcelona in a developmental role and also enjoyed a break from the game.

When Liverpool clinched the Premier League title with a dominant 5-1 victory over Tottenham a few weeks earlier, Thiago congratulated the team, showing he still follows his old club closely.

He shared Liverpool’s announcement of the title win and added the caption: “Congrats lads 💪. YNWA.”

With current assistant coach John Heitinga potentially departing for Ajax, new Liverpool manager Arne Slot may soon be looking for a replacement. Given Thiago’s experience and multilingual abilities—he speaks Spanish, German, and English—he could be a strong candidate.

Last summer, Thiago was seen shadowing Hansi Flick at Barcelona, adding to his growing coaching credentials. His diverse playing career, spanning three top leagues, also strengthens his profile.

Slot recently commented, “If Ajax are smart, they’ll consider John. He’s ready for that kind of role. But if John’s smart, he’ll stay here another year.”

According to Football Insider, Dirk Kuyt is another candidate being considered for Slot’s coaching team. Kuyt played 285 games for Liverpool after being signed by Rafa Benítez in 2006 and is now 44 years old.

Currently managing Belgian second-division side Beerschot, Kuyt led them to promotion in the 2023/24 season. However, his previous coaching role at ADO Den Haag in the Netherlands was less successful, as he left the club after less than five months with the team struggling in 17th place in the Dutch second tier.
