A Liverpool star’s agent has stirred controversy among fans by expressing a desire for the player to join Real Madrid.
Despite Liverpool being in a strong position to win the Premier League, supporters are frustrated by contract uncertainties surrounding key players Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah. All three have deals expiring this summer, with Alexander-Arnold reportedly set to leave on a free transfer to Real Madrid. However, there is optimism that Salah and Van Dijk may remain, as reports suggest Salah is close to a contract extension, while Van Dijk has noted “progress” in negotiations.
Meanwhile, speculation about another Liverpool star’s potential exit has been fueled by his agent’s remarks. Ryan Gravenberch, who joined from Bayern Munich for £34 million, struggled in his first season but has since thrived under Arne Slot. The Dutch midfielder has become a key player for Liverpool, signing a contract until 2028.
However, his agent, Jose Fortes Rodriguez, recently suggested that his agency would “love” to see Gravenberch play for Real Madrid. Speaking to MARCA, Rodriguez revealed that Barcelona had previously tried to sign Gravenberch when he was 16, but his development took priority. While he believes Gravenberch is talented enough for Real Madrid, he admitted a move is unlikely due to Liverpool’s high asking price.
With Liverpool missing out on top midfield target Martin Zubimendi last summer, Gravenberch was shifted into a deeper midfield role and has excelled. He credited Slot for giving him the confidence to find his best form again, emphasizing the importance of regular playing time.
Liverpool, coming off a 3-2 defeat to Fulham, will look to recover in their upcoming match against West Ham at Anfield.
