A Premier League club is reportedly interested in a potential loan deal for Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa, who has also attracted attention from Celtic.
The 27-year-old joined Liverpool from Juventus last summer for £10 million, signing a four-year contract with the Merseyside club.
However, Chiesa’s first season in England didn’t go as planned, as he made just 14 appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Earlier this month, Corriere dello Sport reported that Roma, Juventus, and Napoli were among the clubs considering a move for Chiesa, while Calcio Mercato recently suggested that Fenerbahçe, managed by Jose Mourinho, could also be an option.
Meanwhile, Celtic, the reigning Scottish champions under Brendan Rodgers, have been linked with a move for Chiesa as they aim to defend their title this season.
According to La Repubblica, Celtic are looking at a loan deal rather than a permanent transfer, but they may face competition from a surprise Premier League contender.
The report also indicates that Fulham, managed by Marco Silva, are interested in a possible loan move. The London club has made only one signing so far this summer: goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte from Montpellier.
Chiesa’s contract at Liverpool runs until June 2028, but with new attacking signings Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike joining, and Mohamed Salah firmly established as Arne Slot’s preferred right winger, he may continue to find game time limited.
Reflecting on his challenging debut season in a June interview with Corriere dello Sport, Chiesa said: “The first few months were very difficult. I arrived in Liverpool on August 26th and was suddenly thrown into a completely different environment with new teammates, no pre-season training, no friendlies, and a new coach. If you remember, Liverpool was playing at an incredible intensity that autumn.”
When asked about his future, he added: “The season is over now, but it’s an experience I’d do again. I’ll soon discuss with the club, my agent Fali Ramadani, and my family to decide the best course of action. I wouldn’t mind staying at Liverpool at all.”
