Slot’s top priority: Liverpool lining up bold bid for ‘world-class’ talent as replacement for 18-goal standout

Liverpool remain heavily linked with a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

As reported by Fichajes, the club is now plotting another ambitious signing following their record-breaking deal for Florian Wirtz. Isak has reportedly emerged as a top priority for new manager Arne Slot.

Isak labelled ‘world-class’ and targeted as key addition

Newcastle’s Swedish striker, described as a “world-class” talent by Premier League legend Alan Shearer, is seen as a perfect fit for Liverpool’s attack. The reigning league champions are believed to be preparing a bid in the region of €120 million for the 24-year-old, who netted 23 goals and contributed six assists last season.

Isak’s versatility — with the ability to play both centrally and out wide — would offer Liverpool a dynamic new attacking option. His flair, creativity, and goal-scoring instincts could elevate the frontline and provide a significant upgrade on Darwin Núñez and Diogo Jota, both of whom have had inconsistent spells over the past year.

Potential replacement for Cody Gakpo

With Cody Gakpo linked with a possible departure, Isak is being considered as a potential successor. Gakpo, who scored 18 goals last season, has been a key figure at Anfield, but speculation around his future has intensified.

Newcastle, one of the Premier League’s wealthiest clubs, are under no immediate pressure to sell. However, if Isak pushes for a move and refuses to extend his current contract, the club may be forced to consider a sale.

Negotiations could hinge on Isak’s willingness to commit to a new deal. If he declines, Newcastle may have little choice but to entertain offers — making this a transfer saga to watch closely in the coming weeks.
