Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has shared an exciting update, suggesting that Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are “very likely” to extend their contracts with Liverpool.
Both the Dutch defender and the Egyptian forward have cemented their status as legends at Anfield, ranking among the greatest players in the club’s history. However, their current contracts, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold’s, are set to expire next summer, leaving fans eager for renewal announcements.
Speaking to Give Me Sport, Sheth expressed optimism about Van Dijk and Salah’s futures at Liverpool, noting their likelihood to sign new deals soon rather than depart as free agents in the summer of 2025:

> “I’m not saying Alexander-Arnold won’t stay—it’s just that his situation hasn’t been as publicly discussed as Salah and Van Dijk’s.”

This update from Sheth will undoubtedly excite Liverpool fans, who are eager for positive news regarding Van Dijk, Salah, and Alexander-Arnold.
At this stage of their careers, it seems unlikely that Van Dijk or Salah would leave, particularly with Liverpool thriving under Arne Slot and arguably the best team in Europe at present. Any move elsewhere might be seen as a step down, so it makes sense for the pair to stay and further solidify their legendary status at Anfield.
As for Alexander-Arnold, his situation is somewhat different. At 26, he may still attract interest from clubs like Real Madrid. However, Liverpool fans hope that the right-back will continue to see his boyhood club as the ideal place to spend the prime years of his career.
