According to Matt Law of The Telegraph, Chelsea are hesitant to approve a transfer for Nicolas Jackson until Isak’s future is resolved — anticipating a possible late push from either Newcastle or Liverpool for the Senegal striker. Bayern Munich are currently leading the race for the 24-year-old, and Jackson is reportedly open to the move. However, Chelsea are prepared to wait, especially as AC Milan move closer to signing Christopher Nkunku.
Should Newcastle or Liverpool fail to secure Isak, Jackson could attract late interest from either club, with Chelsea ready to play the waiting game.
Would Liverpool really go for Jackson?
Despite the credible source, the idea of Liverpool making a last-minute swoop for Jackson feels unlikely. Since joining Chelsea for £32m two years ago, the striker has shown flashes of brilliance but also inconsistency — earning both praise and frustration from fans.
He’s scored 30 goals in 81 appearances, and while legends like Thierry Henry have praised his potential, his record of missed chances and lapses in discipline raise questions. In recent months, he’s been sent off in key matches and had one of the highest big-chance miss rates in the Premier League during his debut season.
Liverpool recently moved on from Darwin Núñez — a talented but inconsistent striker — and Jackson seems to carry similar traits, perhaps to an even greater extreme.
It would be a surprise if Jackson ends up at Anfield by the deadline, but this transfer window has already delivered its fair share of twists.
