Liverpool Nearing Sale of Ben Doak to Bournemouth for Significant Profit
Liverpool are reportedly close to finalizing the sale of Scottish winger Ben Doak to Bournemouth, which would see them make a substantial profit on the £600,000 they paid Celtic for him in 2022. According to The Guardian, the deal is expected to be worth around £25 million.
Doak, who has earned six caps for Scotland, made only ten senior appearances for Liverpool. Despite limited game time at Anfield, the 19-year-old impressed during a loan spell at Middlesbrough last season and is seen as a player with significant potential—even if his future now lies away from Merseyside.
While the transfer offers Doak a valuable opportunity for more regular first-team football, the fee raises eyebrows given his relative lack of experience. Bournemouth appear to be betting on his long-term promise, but the move still carries some risk.
Some Liverpool supporters may be disappointed to see a highly rated youngster leave, especially given the club’s past struggles with integrating emerging talent due to strong competition in the squad. There are comparisons to be made with other top clubs who have let promising players slip through their fingers—such as Chelsea with Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne.
