Barcelona’s pursuit of Alexander Isak has gained momentum, with reports from Spain suggesting that the Newcastle United striker is actively pushing for a move to Camp Nou this summer.
The 25-year-old’s future at St James’ Park remains uncertain, especially if Newcastle fails to qualify for the Champions League next season. According to El Nacional, Isak has already rejected offers from both Arsenal and Liverpool, as he prioritizes a dream move to Barcelona, who are highly interested in signing him.
However, securing the deal won’t be easy. Newcastle is reportedly demanding at least €180 million for the Swedish international—a price that could pose a significant challenge for Barcelona given their well-documented financial struggles.
Despite this, club president Joan Laporta is reportedly determined to do everything possible to secure Isak’s signature, viewing him as the ideal long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski.
Isak has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 22 goals and registering five assists in 31 appearances.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are closely monitoring the situation and reportedly see Isak as a potential replacement for Darwin Núñez. Following Isak’s impressive performance against Manchester United in December, Jamie Carragher even stated on Sky Sports: “He is the best striker in the Premier League right now, and I don’t think it’s even close—he’s the real standout.”
