Report: Liverpool and Arsenal may compete in a £60m transfer battle for an “incredible finisher.”

Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign a Premier League star who recently scored his first international goal.

The two clubs have dominated the top spots in the English league for much of the season, but with a 12-point gap between them and only eight games remaining, Arne Slot’s team holds a significant advantage in the title chase.

Arsenal may, however, be looking to settle a score with their rivals by securing the signature of a player well known to Premier League fans.

Liverpool and Arsenal Compete for Eberechi Eze

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool and Arsenal are the primary contenders for Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, who has a £60 million release clause in his contract.

Tottenham and both Manchester clubs are also interested in the England international, and reports suggest that Palace may be open to selling him for two key reasons.

Eze will turn 27 in June, and the club may see this as their best opportunity to cash in, using the funds to retain key players like Marc Guehi, Adam Wharton, and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Is This Liverpool’s Best Chance to Sign Eze?

Eze capped off March in style by scoring his first goal for England in their World Cup qualifier against Latvia and then netting a stunning strike to help Palace reach the FA Cup semi-finals. Manager Oliver Glasner has praised him as an “amazing finisher.”

This season, Eze has registered six goals and nine assists across all competitions, though he has yet to score in the Premier League in 2025 (Transfermarkt).

Given Liverpool’s typical transfer strategy under FSG, this summer may be their best—and possibly last—chance to move for him. While his versatility, similar to Harvey Elliott’s, could make him a valuable squad member for Slot, Eze may not be keen on a rotational role given his prominence at Palace.
