Liverpool have made significant moves in the transfer market this summer under new manager Arne Slot.
While new signings such as Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike, and Milos Kerkez have joined the squad, several established players—including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Luis Diaz—have moved on to new opportunities elsewhere.
The club’s transfer activity isn’t finished yet. As Premier League champions, Liverpool are now reportedly eyeing Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak as a potential addition.
A number of big-name departures are still expected this month, with Darwin Nunez among those likely to leave.
Liverpool set to move on from Darwin Nunez
After an underwhelming season in the eyes of Arne Slot, the Uruguayan striker is reportedly on his way out. According to TBR Football, Nunez has agreed in principle to leave Anfield this summer.
Journalist Graeme Bailey reports that Liverpool have begun negotiations with the Saudi Pro League regarding Nunez’s transfer.
Bailey stated:
“Liverpool are very active this summer, and that includes significant player sales alongside key arrivals. With Diaz already gone, Nunez was always viewed as the major outgoing.
“The club holds Nunez in high regard and sees his talent, but things haven’t worked out, and he acknowledges that. With Wirtz and Ekitike already in and Isak being targeted, Nunez understands that his role is diminishing.
“He also recognizes that a move within Europe is unlikely, which has led him to agree to a potential transfer to Saudi Arabia.”
Saudi clubs leading the pursuit
Saudi sides Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli are currently the front-runners to sign the forward. Despite showing promise in his time at Liverpool, Nunez has struggled with consistency—something the club hopes to address by targeting a more reliable performer like Isak.
Pundit Ally McCoist previously described Nunez as an “unbelievable” talent, but Liverpool now appear ready to part ways.
