A recent update on a crucial Liverpool forward suggests possible changes to our summer transfer strategy.
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri shared on X that Bayern Munich is set to offer €70 million plus an additional €10 million for Luis Diaz, with negotiations reportedly already underway.
The report indicates that Liverpool “won’t block the Colombian’s desire to leave,” implying the club may be open to approving the transfer—especially if the financial terms are favorable.
Luis Diaz is keen to move on, and Liverpool seem unlikely to stand in his way.
The 28-year-old winger, who scored 17 goals and provided eight assists in 50 appearances last season, has been linked to Barcelona and Saudi clubs, but Bayern Munich now appear to be the frontrunners.
Manager Arne Slot has utilized Diaz both centrally and on the left wing. However, with Cody Gakpo preferred on the left, Hugo Ekitike signed, and further signings rumored, Diaz’s playing time could be limited—possibly motivating his desire to leave.
With Ekitike already signed, Tavolieri suggests that selling Diaz could help Liverpool fund a move for Alexander Isak, a highly sought-after target among fans.
Diaz’s departure might also clarify Federico Chiesa’s future, who has been linked with an exit following an injury-plagued season.
Since joining Liverpool from Porto in January 2022, Diaz has become a fan favorite. But with the Premier League title secured, the club may see now as the right time to cash in, especially as Diaz turns 29 next season.
This would mark the second major sale this summer after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid, with the club already investing heavily in players like Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez.
These developments come as Arne Slot reshapes his squad post-championship, and the coming days could be crucial if Bayern formalizes their offer and Diaz remains determined to leave.
