Real Madrid Show Genuine Interest in Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté Ahead of Summer Transfer Window

Real Madrid are reportedly showing strong interest in signing Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté as they look to bolster their backline ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window. The Spanish giants are closely monitoring the French center-back, who has established himself as a key player at Anfield since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021.

According to sources, Madrid view Konaté as a long-term defensive solution, with club president Florentino Pérez and manager Carlo Ancelotti keen on strengthening their options in central defense. With veteran defender Nacho Fernández potentially leaving and ongoing injury concerns surrounding Éder Militão and David Alaba, Los Blancos see Konaté as an ideal addition to partner Antonio Rüdiger.

Konaté, 24, has impressed with his physicality, composure on the ball, and ability to play in a high defensive line—qualities that make him a perfect fit for Real Madrid’s style of play. His experience in high-intensity matches, both in the Premier League and Champions League, has only increased his appeal to the Spanish club.

However, Liverpool are unlikely to let Konaté leave easily. The French international remains a crucial part of Jürgen Klopp’s squad, and with Klopp set to depart at the end of the season, Liverpool’s next manager will have a big say in the defender’s future. The Reds would demand a significant transfer fee if they were to consider selling him, as Konaté still has multiple years left on his contract.

Real Madrid, who are also linked with other defensive targets, are expected to assess their options before making a formal approach. While no official talks have taken place yet, Madrid’s growing interest suggests they could test Liverpool’s resolve in the coming months.

With the summer transfer window approaching, all eyes will be on whether Madrid will make a serious move for Konaté or if Liverpool will succeed in keeping one of their key defensive assets.
