Real Madrid is reportedly set to disrupt Liverpool’s transfer plans after allegedly securing an agreement to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold, according to a new report.
On Tuesday, talkSPORT claimed that Alexander-Arnold has agreed to join Real Madrid this summer, bringing an end to his long-standing association with Liverpool, which began when he was just six years old.
With his contract at Anfield expiring at the end of the season, the right-back would leave on a free transfer—a situation that hasn’t sat well with Liverpool fans, especially given that club officials previously valued him at over £100 million.
Liverpool will now need to find a replacement, as Conor Bradley remains their only natural right-back. However, their immediate priority appears to be signing a centre-back, with Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen emerging as a target.
The 19-year-old, born in the Netherlands but representing Spain internationally, made his debut for the Spanish national team in the Nations League quarter-finals against his birth country.
On Wednesday, AS reported that Real Madrid had entered the race for Huijsen, who has impressed in his first Premier League season under Andoni Iraola. Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United are also interested in signing him.
Notably, Huijsen’s father, Don, shared the AS report—titled “Operacion Huijsen”—on Instagram, potentially hinting at Real Madrid’s growing interest.
When asked about his future while on international duty, Huijsen stated that he is currently focused on finishing the season strong.
“I’m not thinking about that right now,” he said. “I’m focused on ending the season well, and then we’ll see when the time comes. Of course, it makes you proud when such a big club is interested in you. I’ll just keep working and stay humble.”
