Real Madrid Face Blow as Vinicius Jr. Sidelined for Three Weeks

Posted on December 1, 2024December 14, 2024 By Dailynewsupdate No Comments on Real Madrid Face Blow as Vinicius Jr. Sidelined for Three Weeks

Vinicius Jr. Suffers Injury Setback

Real Madrid’s attacking star Vinicius Junior is expected to miss up to three weeks of action due to a femoral biceps injury in his left leg. The 24-year-old completed a full 90 minutes during Real Madrid’s 3-0 win over Leganes in La Liga on Sunday, November 24, assisting Kylian Mbappe’s opening goal. However, post-match reports revealed the extent of his injury.

According to AranchaMOBILE (via Madrid Zone), the club hopes to have Vinicius back in time for the FIFA Club World Cup final on December 18.

Impressive Form Cut Short

Vinicius has been in fine form this season, contributing 12 goals and eight assists across 18 matches in all competitions. In La Liga alone, he has tallied eight goals and seven assists in just 13 appearances. His performances have been instrumental in Real Madrid’s campaign, helping Carlo Ancelotti’s side stay within four points of league leaders Barcelona with a game in hand.

Champions League Test Awaits

Despite Vinicius’ absence, Real Madrid are gearing up for a high-stakes Champions League clash against Premier League leaders Liverpool on November 27. The two teams share a storied rivalry, with Real Madrid winning seven of their 11 encounters in Europe’s premier competition.

Memorable Madrid vs. Liverpool Encounters

The last time these two sides met, in the 2022-23 Champions League Round of 16, Real Madrid prevailed with a dominant 6-2 aggregate win. A close 1-0 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu, thanks to Karim Benzema’s goal, set the stage for a commanding 5-2 victory at Anfield. Vinicius Junior shone in the second leg, scoring twice as Madrid cruised to the quarter-finals.

What’s Next for Los Blancos?

With Vinicius sidelined, Ancelotti will rely on other attacking options, including Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, to maintain momentum in both domestic and European competitions. While the team faces a tough schedule, Madrid fans will hope for a swift recovery for Vinicius ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup ambitions.
