Anthony Gordon Prefers Liverpool Move Over Arsenal and Chelsea
Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon has reportedly made it known that Liverpool would be his top choice if he were to leave, despite interest from other major Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea.
Valued around £75 million, Gordon has become one of the most in-demand players in the current transfer window.
Last summer, Liverpool showed interest in signing the English forward, but Newcastle managed to retain him. Gordon played a significant role in helping the club qualify for the Champions League and break their long-standing trophy drought.
Gordon’s Preference for Liverpool
According to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football, Gordon favors a move to Liverpool over other options, although both Chelsea and Arsenal are seriously considering him as they look to bolster their left-wing options for the upcoming season.
Despite growing attention from Premier League rivals, Bailey reports that Gordon’s loyalty lies with Liverpool, the club he supported as a child.
Bailey commented:
“I believe he’ll eventually play for Liverpool, though likely not this summer. But that’s where he wants to go. While Arsenal and Chelsea are interested, Liverpool remains his first choice.”
A Key Player for Newcastle
Since joining Newcastle from Everton in January 2023, Gordon has become an essential player under manager Eddie Howe. He’s earned praise for his tireless work rate, aggressive pressing, and dynamic attacking style.
Gordon himself once said, “I know I’m a nightmare for anyone that I play against.”
Although a move doesn’t seem imminent, his long-term ambition to play at Anfield remains clear and could materialize in the future.
Meanwhile, Liverpool also appear to be in a favorable position in the race to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, and Fabrizio Romano has hinted at a potential striker signing for the Reds as well.
