The potential Champions League round of 16 opponents for Premier League clubs have been confirmed.
On Wednesday night, the final matches of the first phase of this season’s UEFA Champions League were played, with all 36 teams competing across Europe for a spot in the top 24.
Before the matchday, Liverpool and Barcelona had already secured a top-two finish, while reigning English champions Manchester City needed a win against Club Brugge to stay in the competition.
Following an action-packed night of football, all four English teams advanced to the knockout rounds. Arsenal and Aston Villa joined Liverpool in progressing directly to the last 16 after victories over Girona and Celtic, respectively. Meanwhile, Manchester City secured a place in the play-offs by defeating Club Brugge at the Etihad Stadium.
However, Pep Guardiola’s team must now face either defending champions Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the play-off round for a chance to reach the last 16.
Liverpool will face one of Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, AS Monaco, or Brest in the round of 16.
Arsenal’s possible opponents include AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven, Feyenoord, or Juventus.
Aston Villa will take on either Borussia Dortmund, Atalanta, Club Brugge, or Sporting CP.
If Manchester City overcome Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, they will go up against either Atlético Madrid or Bayer Leverkusen.

The knockout play-offs will take place over two weeks:
First legs: February 11/12, 2025
Second legs: February 18/19, 2025
Following that, the draws for the Round of 16, quarter-finals, and semi-finals will be held on February 21.
