Journalist Keith Downie claims Newcastle are holding out for a massive £150 million transfer fee—one that would break Premier League records. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Downie said Liverpool could finalize a deal if they submit a significant bid, even suggesting that a slightly lower offer of around £135 million might be enough to convince Newcastle to sell.
Isak, capped 52 times by Sweden, has reportedly made his intentions clear by skipping Newcastle’s pre-season tour in Asia. He’s looking to move on after three impactful seasons, where he showcased not just goal-scoring ability, but also creativity, dribbling, and all-around attacking flair.
Last season alone, Isak scored 27 goals and contributed six assists across all competitions—including 23 Premier League goals. His standout performances included helping Newcastle end their 56-year trophy drought by scoring in the League Cup final.
Isak, who became Newcastle’s record signing at £63 million, is under contract until June 2028. However, The Athletic has reported the club is simultaneously trying to improve his current deal while scouting potential replacements, preparing for the possibility of his departure.
