Newcastle United have reportedly identified two Liverpool players they would consider including in a potential swap deal for their star striker, Alexander Isak.
With only nine matches left in the Premier League season, transfer rumors are beginning to surface ahead of the summer window in June.
Liverpool are expected to be one of the busiest clubs in the market, with new manager Arne Slot aiming to strengthen his squad after an impressive debut season. Isak is said to be high on Slot’s wish list, and reports indicate that Newcastle have selected two Liverpool players they would want in exchange for the Swedish forward.
Given the strong interest in Isak from several top European clubs, Liverpool may need to break their transfer record to secure his signature. To offset the cost, the Reds are reportedly open to including players in the deal, with Newcastle specifically naming their preferred candidates.
According to Give Me Sport, Liverpool could offer Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott as part of the transfer to bring Isak to Anfield next season. While the Reds have considered offering other players, Jota and Elliott are seen as the most likely to move, as Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is said to be a big admirer of both.
Previously, defenders Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah were believed to be leading candidates for a swap, given Newcastle’s past interest in strengthening their backline. Additionally, out-of-form striker Darwin Núñez was suggested as an option, but reports indicate that Newcastle are no longer considering a move for the Uruguayan.
Despite the transfer speculation, Newcastle remain hopeful they can retain the 25-year-old forward for the long term.
