Liverpool caused a stir online by announcing that Mo Salah will remain at the club after signing a new contract, while a well-regarded journalist disclosed his updated salary.
Salah’s future had been a hot topic throughout the season, with the Egyptian at one point admitting he was “more out than in.” However, negotiations progressed positively, and on Friday morning, Liverpool confirmed his contract extension with a bold statement: “He’s staying,” featuring an image of Salah seated on a throne with the words, “More in than out.”
Since joining from Roma in 2017, Salah has scored 243 goals and is now set to reach a decade at Anfield, aiming to break even more records. Speaking to the club’s official website, he shared his excitement about the new deal.
“I’m very excited. We have a great team now, just like before. I signed because I believe we can win more trophies and continue enjoying football,” Salah said. “I’ve had my best years here, and hopefully, it will be 10 years in total. I’m enjoying life and football here. I want to say to the fans, I’m very happy to stay. Keep supporting us, and we’ll give our best to win more big trophies.”
Liverpool, under Fenway Sports Group, traditionally avoids offering contract extensions to players over 30. However, given Salah’s exceptional form—scoring 32 goals and providing 22 assists this season—the club made an exception.
How much will Mo Salah earn?
Salah’s previous deal made him Liverpool’s highest-paid player at £350,000 per week, with speculation that an extension would include a pay cut. However, respected journalist Ismael Mahmoud, who is reportedly close to Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, revealed otherwise.
Mahmoud posted on X that Salah’s new contract includes a 12.5% increase, bringing his weekly wage to £400,000. While this is the most lucrative deal in Liverpool’s history, it remains significantly lower than the reported £65 million annual offer he received from the Saudi Pro League.
