Mo Salah offered a succinct three-word response when questioned about his contract situation following another historic performance for Liverpool.
The Reds extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to four points with a commanding 6-3 victory over Spurs on Sunday. Salah delivered a standout performance, scoring twice and providing two assists to achieve an unprecedented feat in the league.
With his brace and assists for Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz, Salah became the first player in Premier League history to record 10 goals and 10 assists before Christmas. He also climbed to fourth on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list, surpassing the legendary Billy Liddell with 229 goals. However, he remains 117 goals behind Ian Rush, Liverpool’s all-time top scorer with an incredible 346 goals in 660 appearances—a record that Salah admitted left him in awe.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Salah reflected: “It’s a great achievement at a club like this, but the most important thing is we won the game. To have this milestone is amazing.”
He joked about Rush’s record, adding: “I don’t know how he scored that many goals! Maybe football was seven-a-side back then. He’s a great legend for the club, and we’re in contact. Whenever I end my career, I’ll be happy about my achievements. Let’s see.”
Salah’s contract at Liverpool is set to expire next summer, and when asked about any updates by reporter Patrick Davison, Salah simply replied, “No, nothing,” bringing the interview to a close.
Salah’s comments on his future last month
After a win against Southampton, Salah addressed his contract situation and revealed there had been no discussions with the club about a renewal.
“We’re almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay,” Salah explained. “I’m probably more out than in. I’ve been at the club for many years, and there’s no place like this. But it’s not in my hands. As I’ve said before, it’s December, and there’s been no communication about my future.
“I love the fans, and they love me. But it’s not in my hands or theirs. We’ll have to wait and see. Of course, it’s disappointing.”
Liverpool, currently excelling in both the Premier League and Champions League, return to action on Boxing Day with a home fixture against Leicester City.
