Mikel Arteta’s response — What did the Arsenal manager say following the comeback victory at Brentford to kick off 2025?

Posted on January 1, 2025 By Dailynewsupdate No Comments on Mikel Arteta’s response — What did the Arsenal manager say following the comeback victory at Brentford to kick off 2025?

Mikel Arteta will be pleased with Arsenal’s winning start to 2025, as the Gunners came from behind to defeat Brentford 3-1 on New Year’s Day at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Bryan Mbeumo gave Brentford the lead in the 13th minute, but Gabriel Jesus equalized before halftime, and Arsenal dominated the second half. Goals from Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli sealed the win, with Arsenal rarely allowing Brentford to threaten David Raya’s goal.

This victory ensures Arsenal reclaim second place, now six points behind Liverpool, who have a game in hand.

Mikel Arteta’s reaction
We will share Mikel Arteta’s comments once he speaks on the USA Network, NBC.com, or via Premier League Productions.

Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus on filling in for Saka and chasing the Premier League title:
Martinelli, on celebrating with an Arsenal scarf: “The support they give us is incredible. We just want to thank them for coming and backing us like they did. We’re very happy with the result.”

Martinelli, on replacing Bukayo Saka: “No one can replace him; he’s one of the best in the world, but we trust ourselves. I’m sure Saka is happy with the result.”

Jesus, on his form after a dry spell: “I kept working hard. Everyone at the club knows how I train every day — not just me, everyone. I don’t give up. I always try. It’s tough playing for a big club like Arsenal, but even when I wasn’t scoring, I was playing well. Now I’m scoring, and I’m happy to help the team.”

Jesus, on Arsenal’s title chances: “For sure. The past two years were great; we didn’t win the league but we fought. This team is more experienced now. Everyone is good, and I’m confident we can fight for the title. But it’s still early. We need to keep playing well and winning games.”
