Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly planning to offload three players from the squad amid speculation linking the club to Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.
In recent transfer windows, Arsenal has been associated with several top-tier strikers as the club looks to bolster its attacking options. Among the latest rumors is interest in Isak, who has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most impressive forwards.
However, a new report suggests a significant update regarding Arsenal’s pursuit of Isak. It also indicates that Arteta is preparing to part ways with three key players in the upcoming transfer windows.
According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal is unlikely to meet the financial demands required to secure Isak, as Newcastle would reportedly expect a British-record transfer fee. This makes a potential deal highly improbable, with club owner Stan Kroenke reportedly unwilling to sanction such an investment for the 25-year-old striker.
Although Arsenal is currently compliant with Profit and Sustainability Rules, pursuing Isak could jeopardize this stability. As a result, club officials are downplaying the rumors, despite Arteta’s evident interest in the player.
Instead, Arteta will focus on player departures, with three notable names on the exit list. Striker Gabriel Jesus is expected to be made available for transfer at the end of the season, despite his recent improvement in form, scoring six goals in his last four appearances. His inconsistency, however, has led to him being deemed expendable.
Midfielder Thomas Partey is also likely to depart, as Arsenal is reportedly unwilling to renew his £150,000-a-week contract, which expires in June. Additionally, Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko could leave during the January transfer window after falling out of favor in Arteta’s starting lineup.
