Micah Richards made a surprise exit from the CBS Sports set during a post-match interview following Wednesday’s Champions League games.
The 36-year-old, a member of CBS’ live panel alongside fellow former Premier League stars Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher, and host Kate Scott, was speaking to Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram after the Italian side advanced to the Champions League semi-finals. Inter drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich at the San Siro, securing a 4-3 win on aggregate.
During the interview, Richards playfully asked Thuram, “Marcus, why do you call Thierry [Henry] uncle?”
Thuram laughed, replying, “I say it every time I’m here. He’s my uncle because he’s my dad’s [Lilian Thuram’s] brother – so, he’s my uncle.”
He then complimented Henry’s outfit: “Thierry, you have a very, very nice suit tonight.”
Carragher chimed in jokingly, “What about me and Micah?”
Thuram responded with a grin, “Both of you, yeah – Micah’s suit is a bit tight,” prompting laughter from the panel. He quickly added, “Why is it always you, Micah… I’m sorry.”
Thuram, 27, has been a key player for Simone Inzaghi’s Inter side this season, scoring 17 goals and providing nine assists in 44 games, helping lead the team to the top of Serie A.
Inter are now eyeing their fourth Champions League title – having won in 2009/10, 1964/65, and 1963/64 – and face a strong Barcelona squad in the semi-finals. They’re also in contention for a treble, aiming to win Serie A, the Champions League, and the Coppa Italia.
Inzaghi, 49, praised his players after the match, emphasizing their determination and mentality.
“It’s a beautiful evening, experienced in our stadium with our fans, against a very strong opponent,” Inzaghi said. “We played two great matches and gave everything. The players were fantastic – this is a victory we share with the entire Inter family.
“The players deserve the credit. They work hard and sacrifice together. We’ve been building this for four years. At first, we had a strong squad, but we needed to improve some areas. Now, we’ve won important trophies. It’s a rewarding feeling for me and the staff.”
