The transfer market could be in for a major shake-up as Manchester City have identified Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes as their top target if Savinho leaves the Etihad this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur are currently in talks to sign Savinho, but negotiations have hit a roadblock due to City’s valuation. Sources close to the transfer scene say Spurs’ offer of €50–60 million is far below what City are asking.
City’s pursuit of Rodrygo hinges on Savinho’s potential exit. If Tottenham return with a significantly improved bid, City would be open to letting the winger leave — and would then immediately turn their attention to securing Rodrygo.
Pep Guardiola is a long-time admirer of Rodrygo, especially after the Brazilian’s standout Champions League displays against City. Guardiola is said to have already spoken directly with the player, explaining his vision for Rodrygo’s role at the club.
City are preparing a €100 million package to lure the Real Madrid forward, including €80 million upfront and €20 million in performance-based bonuses. Real Madrid are reportedly open to listening to offers.
However, City aren’t alone in the race. Arsenal and Liverpool are monitoring Rodrygo’s situation closely. Arsenal had considered a loan-to-buy deal but are now reassessing due to uncertainty around Leandro Trossard’s future. Liverpool could join the race if their pursuit of Alexander Isak falls through.
Tottenham have also expressed interest in Rodrygo following Heung-min Son’s transfer to MLS, but their priority remains completing a deal for Savinho first.
Interest from outside England has come from PSG and Al-Nassr, though Rodrygo is said to prefer staying in top-tier European competition. While he is open to remaining at Real Madrid and wants to impress new coach Xabi Alonso, the promise of regular playing time and a major role at Manchester City could prove tempting.
