Man Utd suffer setback as £70m target ‘prepared to accept’ Arsenal move.

Arsenal Set to Derail Manchester United’s Transfer Plans as Top Target Prefers Emirates Move

Manchester United’s transfer plans could suffer a major setback, with one of their key targets reportedly favoring a move to Arsenal over Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have endured a challenging season, struggling to meet expectations in the Premier League. Despite renewed optimism following Erik ten Hag’s departure in October and the appointment of highly-rated Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim, results have been inconsistent under the former Sporting CP manager.

Now, United’s hopes of securing RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko appear to be fading. The 20-year-old Slovenian forward, considered one of Europe’s most promising talents, has attracted interest from several top clubs, including United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain.

According to talkSPORT, Sesko, valued at £70 million, has set his sights on joining Arsenal. Reports suggest that the Leipzig star was impressed by the Gunners’ long-term project when the club initially approached him last summer, leading him to favor a move to the Emirates over United or Chelsea.

Benjamin Sesko’s Future: What’s Been Said?

Transfer expert Ben Jacobs told Inside Gooners that Arsenal are actively monitoring Sesko’s situation, though a January transfer remains unlikely. “Arsenal have several concrete summer targets, and there’s logic in accelerating some of those moves. However, these deals are difficult to pull off mid-season,” Jacobs explained.

He also noted that while Arsenal have made inquiries with Leipzig regarding a potential transfer, there is no release clause in Sesko’s contract. “The player is focused on his development and won’t rush a move,” Jacobs added.

Furthermore, he revealed that when Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United pitched their projects to Sesko last summer, the striker chose Arsenal as his preferred destination. “The challenge now is whether Arsenal can make an irresistible offer, as Leipzig remain firm in their stance and are unlikely to sell in January.”

With Sesko seemingly leaning toward Arsenal, Manchester United may have to rethink their transfer strategy as they look to strengthen their squad for the future.
