Man City aim to spoil Liverpool’s plans with a late move in the transfer window.

Liverpool have been linked with Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, and reports suggest the player is eager to join the Anfield club.

The Reds have identified the England international as their top defensive target for the summer, and a move could materialize in the closing days of the transfer window.

However, the situation has taken a twist, with the Daily Star reporting that Manchester City have now entered the race to sign Guehi.

Guehi, who is in the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, is expected to leave Crystal Palace. The club is willing to cash in on him this summer rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next year.

Under new manager Arne Slot, Liverpool were seen as favourites to secure Guehi’s signature, but interest from Pep Guardiola’s Man City could complicate matters.

City are reportedly looking to move on from defenders Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji this summer. If those departures go through, the reigning FA Cup and Community Shield holders are set to make a serious push for Guehi, setting up a head-to-head with Liverpool.

Akanji is said to be a target for Galatasaray, while Ake has attracted interest from Everton, managed by David Moyes.

As the transfer window nears its end, fans could witness a fierce battle between two Premier League giants—not for silverware this time, but for one of England’s most reliable defenders.
