“Making significant progress” – Fabrizio Romano shares the latest on Liverpool’s pursuit of Dean Huijsen.

Fabrizio Romano has discussed Liverpool’s interest in Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen ahead of the summer transfer window.

The young centre-back has had a breakthrough season with the Cherries after joining from Juventus last year. His performances have attracted interest from multiple Premier League clubs, many of which are looking to strengthen their defense in the upcoming transfer window.

One of the clubs monitoring him is Arne Slot’s Liverpool, especially with Virgil van Dijk yet to agree on a new contract at Anfield.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano provided an update on the 19-year-old’s future and confirmed that Liverpool are prioritizing a defensive signing at the end of the season.

“Liverpool are making significant progress in identifying the centre-back they want to sign in the summer. They are determined to bring in a key defender,” he stated.

“In an internal meeting involving Richard Hughes, board members, and Arne Slot, there was a consensus on signing an important centre-back during the transfer window.

“When I say ‘important,’ it could mean a highly talented prospect or an already established player. However, my information suggests that Liverpool are focusing on investing in young players for both the present and the future.”

Romano also noted that Liverpool are not the only English club tracking Huijsen’s progress at Bournemouth.

“There is strong interest in Dean Huijsen from Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and several other clubs, including Newcastle.

“Liverpool are also evaluating other defensive targets. They are actively working to determine the ideal centre-back to bring in, but one thing is certain—they are fully committed to reinforcing that position in the summer.”
