The 2024/25 season has been far from ideal for Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal squad so far.
The summer signings have largely underperformed, and Arteta’s decision not to secure a top-class striker during the transfer window is now looking like a significant oversight. The Arsenal manager will need to address this issue, either in January or by the next summer transfer window at the latest.
Additionally, it could be argued that Arteta has struggled to get the best out of the players currently available to him, placing responsibility on his shoulders to improve the team’s performances for the remainder of the season. One player, in particular, has fallen short of expectations this campaign.
Raheem Sterling’s Arsenal Future Uncertain
Arsenal signed Raheem Sterling on a season-long loan in the summer, but the move has turned out to be a poor one for the club. Despite Chelsea covering a large portion of his £16.9 million annual salary (Spotrac), Sterling has struggled to make an impact at the Emirates.
To be fair to the former Liverpool and Manchester City star, he hasn’t been given many opportunities to showcase his abilities. However, according to a report from the Evening Standard, Sterling remains determined to stay at Arsenal and fight for a place in the team beyond the January transfer window.
If true, this reflects the 30-year-old’s strong desire to prove himself to Arteta and, of course, to the Arsenal supporters.
