Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has sent a strong message to Liverpool ahead of their crucial Champions League second-leg clash next week. The Reds will host the French champions at Anfield on Tuesday night, holding a 1-0 advantage from the first leg in Paris.
Harvey Elliott’s goal secured Liverpool’s victory at the Parc des Princes, while goalkeeper Alisson Becker delivered a standout performance, earning the Player of the Match award.
Both teams returned to domestic competition on Saturday, with Liverpool defeating Southampton 3-1 in the Premier League and PSG securing a dominant 4-1 win over Rennes in Ligue 1.
Enrique believes PSG’s victory over Rennes has boosted their confidence ahead of their showdown with Liverpool. Speaking after the match, he emphasized PSG’s determination and warned the Reds of their mindset going into the decisive fixture.
“I think we’ll be in the best possible shape for the Liverpool game,” Enrique told reporters. “We have nothing to lose. Our only goal is to win, and that’s exactly what we’re aiming for.
“Football is unpredictable. Yes, we were disappointed after the first leg, but after analyzing the game and securing a strong win against Rennes, we feel optimistic.
“I’ll say it again—we have nothing to lose, which makes us even more dangerous than usual.”
Should Liverpool advance past PSG in the Round of 16, they will face either Aston Villa or Club Brugge in the Champions League quarter-finals.
