Liverpool and Co. are riding high after clinching their second Premier League title in just five years.
With that in mind, it’s understandable that many fans might be reluctant to make significant changes to the starting XI—at least not without good reason.
That said, the additions of Jeremie Frimpong and likely incoming former teammate Florian Wirtz appear to be smart moves, reinforcing the club’s strong reliance on a recruitment strategy led by their scouting and analysis team.
Naturally, this means that players who may not fit into Arne Slot’s plans at Anfield—Darwin Nunez being one such example—are expected to be sold to maintain financial balance.
However, interest from Saudi Arabia in Luis Diaz could potentially inflate the club’s transfer budget more than necessary this summer.
Who’s interested in signing Luis Diaz?
According to Mike McGrath of The Telegraph, Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr are monitoring Diaz’s ongoing contract situation.
This was echoed by Andy Hunter of The Guardian, though it’s worth noting that no formal talks have yet taken place between Al-Nassr and Liverpool.
Barcelona, on the other hand, have had a long-standing interest in the Colombian winger. Their new manager, Hansi Flick, has openly expressed his admiration for Diaz, who previously starred at FC Porto.
Still, given Barcelona’s financial limitations, it’s hard to imagine them outbidding a Saudi club in the current market.
Diaz’s current deal at Liverpool runs until the summer of 2027, so there’s no urgent pressure to renew or risk losing him for free anytime soon.
Does Luis Diaz want to leave?
If Barcelona’s financial situation were to improve, it’s possible that Diaz might be tempted by a move to La Liga. However, he’s already expressed openness to discussing a contract extension with Liverpool.
Speaking to Telemundo Deportes (via GOAL), Diaz said:
> “Since the first day I arrived, I’ve always been happy, relaxed, and enjoying the football at this great club… We’ll talk about it [a new deal]. I’d stay as long as necessary—it depends on the club too. These things are worked out behind the scenes. I’m calm, happy, and enjoying the Premier League.”
There’s been no indication—during the recent title celebrations or otherwise—that Diaz is looking to leave the club anytime soon.
Some fans may have read too much into his emotional Instagram post, but his joyful presence during the victory parade strongly suggested that he remains committed to Liverpool and life on Merseyside.
> “Amazing. I love you!” he told club videographers during the celebrations atop the open-top bus.
Of course, things could shift depending on future offers or how contract negotiations unfold. But for now, Luis Diaz remains a key Liverpool player—one new boss Arne Slot would surely prefer to keep.
