Something Lucas Paqueta did just before the Reds scored their fifth was utterly embarrassing, and he should be sold at the very first opportunity we get.
The Brazilian was bottom of the Hammers News West Ham player ratings, with a 3/10, and that was me being generous if I’m honest.
The 27-year-old has been absolutely awful for the Hammers this season, and he has been a big reason behind our struggles.
Julen Lopetegui continues to play Paqueta though, so the Spaniard has to take some of the blame.
Perhaps he’ll be dropped after the defeat to Liverpool. Something Paqueta did late on in the game was just unacceptable if you ask me.
What Lucas Paqueta did in 84th minute of West Ham vs Liverpool
The Brazil international’s all-round performance was horrendous.
He didn’t put in a shift defensively and failed to make an impact inside the final third either.
Paqueta was extremely wasteful with the ball and seemed intent on trying fancy flicks and nigh on impossible through balls all the time.
Unsurprisingly, none of them worked out.
And as the game was drawing to a close, Paqueta committed the ultimate sin in my eyes.
As Mohamed Salah burst through into our half with the ball seemingly stuck to his feet, Diogo Jota began to make a run to the left of the Egyptian.
And Paqueta literally tried to elbow Jota in the back, in order to stop him…but it didn’t work, via @ConnorWHU_ on X:
That is utterly disgraceful if you ask me.
Lucas Paqueta needs to be dropped from the West Ham starting lineup now as a matter of urgency – his performance against Liverpool should be the last straw.
The Brazilian is clearly being affected by issues off the pitch, but that’s no excuse in my eyes.
Lopetegui has to take control of this situation before it ends up costing him his job.
Paqueta is just not good enough to be starting for us anymore, it’s as simple as that.
