The 2025 summer transfer window only closed on September 1st, but Liverpool are already scouting potential signings for next year.
Under Arne Slot, Liverpool bolstered their already strong squad with 10 new signings during the summer, as the Dutch manager aims to guide the Reds to a second straight Premier League title.
The most headline-grabbing additions were Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, and Hugo Ekitike. Wirtz was signed from Bayer Leverkusen in June for around £100 million, plus up to £16 million in add-ons, while Ekitike joined from Eintracht Frankfurt for an initial £69 million despite interest from Newcastle United and Manchester United. However, the signing of Isak was more complicated, with negotiations lasting until the deadline day before the Swede agreed to a six-year contract in a £125 million deal from Newcastle.
Other summer signings included Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giovanni Leoni, Giorgio Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi, Freddie Woodman, and Will Wright.
Key departures saw Trent Alexander-Arnold move to Real Madrid for £10 million ahead of the Club World Cup in June, while Ben Gannon Doak transferred to Bournemouth for approximately £25 million.
Harvey Elliott was sent on a season-long loan to Aston Villa. And just when it seemed Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes might get a break, reports suggest otherwise.
According to the Mail’s Lewis Steele, Liverpool are already making plans for next summer’s transfer window.
Steele reports that Aston Villa’s attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers was a player of interest in June, but club insiders denied any concrete moves at that time—though it’s not ruled out entirely.
He also mentions that Liverpool are seeking a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah and could sign up to two players to fill the winger’s role next summer, with Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise emerging as a potential target.
The 23-year-old French international, who previously played in the Premier League with Crystal Palace, has impressed at Bayern since joining for £50.8 million in July 2024. Olise contributed to 43 goals—20 goals and 23 assists—in 56 appearances, helping Bayern secure the Bundesliga title in the 2024/25 season. He is under contract until 2029, meaning any transfer would likely command a significant fee.
