Liverpool are reportedly planning to intercept Napoli’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi, according to Sport Witness. Napoli initially turned to Adeyemi as an alternative to Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, but Liverpool’s interest could complicate their plans.
Napoli, under Antonio Conte’s direction, have been chasing Garnacho throughout the January transfer window. However, with Manchester United refusing to budge in negotiations, the Serie A club shifted their focus to Adeyemi. While Napoli is reportedly nearing an agreement worth around €40 million (£34 million) for the German international, Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) has revealed Liverpool is also closely monitoring the 23-year-old’s situation.
Liverpool is preparing for the possible departure of Mohamed Salah, whose contract situation remains unresolved amid continued interest from Saudi Arabia. Adeyemi, who has been described as “electric,” could be a key player to fill the void. He has impressed in the current season, contributing eight goal involvements in 14 matches across all competitions, including a stunning first-half hat-trick against Celtic in the Champions League.
Despite Napoli’s progress in negotiations, Liverpool appears to be willing to wait until summer to make a move for Adeyemi. Whether they decide to make a late swoop could depend on the progression of talks between Napoli and Dortmund.
