Liverpool fans suspect one of their key players could be on his way out during the current transfer window after noticing a social media post made by his partner.
With the 2024/25 season concluded and the transfer market officially open, anticipation is high at Anfield following Liverpool’s Premier League triumph. Supporters are expecting a flurry of activity in the coming months, both in terms of new arrivals and departures.
While potential signings like Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, and Jeremie Frimpong are being linked with the club, speculation is also growing around the exit of several established players.
Goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is reportedly on the verge of an £18 million move to Brentford, which could make him the first to depart under new head coach Arne Slot. However, he likely won’t be the last.
At least one attacker is expected to leave to make room for incoming talent, and fans now believe Luis Diaz could be on that list after his partner, Gera Ponce, posted what many interpreted as a farewell message on Instagram.
Diaz has recently been linked with a potential move to Barcelona, and these rumors have gained momentum following Ponce’s emotional tribute to Liverpool and its supporters. Alongside images of their children celebrating the club’s recent title win, she wrote:
“To the incredible Liverpool fans. From the moment we arrived, we truly felt what it means to be part of this club. The slogan ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ took on new meaning when we heard it sung with such passion and felt your unwavering support and love.
“This fanbase doesn’t just cheer — it connects deeply. What you’ve made my partner and our family feel is something we’ll carry with us forever. Thank you for all the love, for making us feel at home. Being part of this is a privilege. This bond is real and lasting. We’ll never walk alone.”
Though her post could simply be a heartfelt thank-you for the support since Diaz joined from Porto in January 2022, the timing has raised concerns among fans about his future at the club.
One fan reacted on X: “I know a goodbye when I see one. Thanks for everything, Lucho. YNWA.”
Another posted: “We’ll miss you, Diaz. Whatever happens, you’ll never walk alone.”
A third speculated that the message might coincide with a new contract signing, stating: “Beautiful message — works either as a farewell or a celebration of a new deal.”
