Liverpool have reportedly submitted a £40 million transfer proposal to Crystal Palace for England centre-back Marc Guehi. The offer consists of an initial £36 million plus £4 million in potential add-ons, bringing it close to Palace’s valuation and making it likely to be accepted, according to Football Insider.
Guehi, who is entering the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, has been one of the Premier League’s standout defenders and fits well with Liverpool’s current squad needs.
With Ibrahima Konate also in the final year of his contract and attracting interest from Real Madrid, Liverpool may be planning for his potential departure. Replacing him with a player of Guehi’s quality could help ease the loss.
The Daily Mirror has previously linked Liverpool with Guehi and suggested that Crystal Palace have identified Joel Ordonez as a possible replacement.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are also pursuing a late move for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. CaughtOffside, via Indy Kaila, reports that the Reds have made a record-breaking £130 million bid to bring the Swedish forward to Anfield.
If Liverpool succeed in securing both Isak and Guehi, along with earlier signings such as Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, and Jeremie Frimpong, it would mark a highly memorable transfer window for the club.
