Liverpool star reportedly open to Barcelona move following discussions.

Barcelona were strongly linked with a move for former Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, but the Colombian ultimately chose to sign with Bayern Munich this summer.

Now, the La Liga champions have turned their attention to another Liverpool player with an uncertain future—centre-back Ibrahima Konaté, who has entered the final year of his contract at Anfield.

According to Sempre Barca, Barcelona have initiated talks with the French international, taking advantage of the uncertainty surrounding his long-term future. With Inigo Martinez leaving for Al Nassr, the Catalan club are actively looking to reinforce their defense, and Konaté is seen as a key target.

While Konaté is open to the idea of a move to Spain, he remains focused on Liverpool for the time being. The defender wants to assess whether the Premier League champions will offer him a new contract and how central he will be to new manager Arne Slot’s plans.

Liverpool kick off their title defense tomorrow, with Konaté expected to start.

Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, is reportedly maintaining regular contact with the player’s representatives, ensuring the club stays updated on any changes in his situation. Though the financial cost would be substantial, Barcelona are ready to explore all options to secure the deal if the opportunity presents itself.

Liverpool are believed to have set a price tag of around £44 million for Konaté should any club seek to sign him during the current transfer window.
