Concerns are growing at Liverpool over the future of Luis Díaz, as the Colombian winger has emerged as a potential summer target for Barcelona.

Díaz, who netted 13 Premier League goals during Liverpool’s title-winning campaign, is reportedly unhappy due to the club’s failure to offer him a new contract. Despite experiencing some inconsistent form last season, he remained a vital part of Arne Slot’s side and played a key role in their league triumph.

In total, Díaz scored 18 goals across all competitions for Liverpool last season, reaffirming his importance to the squad. His current contract runs until 2027, and many had expected an extension to be straightforward. However, negotiations appear to have stalled.

According to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, Díaz and his representatives are “upset” with Liverpool and feel let down. He reported on social media platform X:

“Exclusive: Luis Díaz and his entourage are upset with #Liverpool’s stance. They feel the club has gone back on their word (once again with the player). Something similar happened before with his contract renewal and now with the possibility of a transfer.”

Barcelona and Bayern Munich are said to be closely monitoring the situation. Although Liverpool initially rejected Barcelona’s approach, Díaz’s apparent openness to a move has cast doubt over his Anfield future.

With Arne Slot now facing a critical decision, the club must either secure Díaz’s long-term future with a new deal or risk losing him amid increasing external interest.
