Ibrahima Konaté, a key player in Arne Slot’s Liverpool squad, is reportedly “interested” in a potential move to a European giant.
Liverpool currently sit at the top of the Premier League, holding a seven-point lead over second-placed Arsenal in Slot’s first season in charge. They face Wolves at Anfield tomorrow, aiming to edge closer to their 20th English top-flight title.
Slot, who took over from Jürgen Klopp last summer, has guided Liverpool to the Champions League last 16 and the Carabao Cup final. However, despite a successful season, uncertainty looms over three key players whose contracts expire this summer.
Right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract ends in June, and he has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. Since making 342 appearances for Liverpool, he has scored 21 goals. Virgil van Dijk, whose contract also expires soon, has been with the club since 2018 after a £75 million transfer from Southampton, scoring 26 goals in 303 matches. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah has attracted significant interest from the Saudi Pro League, despite an outstanding season in which he has netted 27 goals in 35 games.
Now, reports indicate that another Liverpool player could be on the move this summer. According to ESPN, Paris Saint-Germain has set its sights on signing Konaté, with the defender himself reportedly open to joining the French champions.
PSG is looking for a central defensive partner for Marquinhos, and a move to Paris would mark a homecoming for Konaté, who was born in the French capital.
The 25-year-old joined Liverpool in 2021 from RB Leipzig for a reported £36 million. His current contract runs until 2026, though Liverpool has offered him a new deal, which he has yet to accept. Konaté has made 116 appearances for the club, scoring five goals, including two this season in 26 matches.
During his time at Liverpool, he has won the FA Cup and two League Cups, while also earning 21 caps for the French national team.
