Details have emerged about how Liverpool’s senior players really feel about new arrival Hugo Ekitike, just days before the Community Shield showdown with Crystal Palace.
On Sunday, the Premier League champions will face FA Cup holders Crystal Palace at Wembley in the traditional curtain-raiser to the new season. For many fans, it will be their first look at the new-look Liverpool side in competitive action before their Premier League campaign kicks off against Bournemouth on August 15.
Several of Liverpool’s summer signings, including Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, and Jeremie Frimpong, are expected to feature, drawing added attention to the squad’s evolving dynamic.
A recent report has offered a glimpse into how Ekitike is being received behind the scenes—and the feedback from teammates is overwhelmingly positive.

“I’m hearing Ekitike has settled in seamlessly, like he’s been part of the group for years,” Bailey wrote. “He’s been brilliant in many ways. The players weren’t surprised by his talent, but a few didn’t fully realize just how good he actually is. The coaching staff are thrilled.”
What About Isak?
Despite Ekitike’s strong start, Liverpool’s pursuit of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak hasn’t cooled. The Swedish forward remains the club’s top transfer target this summer, and signs point to continued efforts to bring him to Anfield.
Liverpool’s initial £110 million bid was turned down, but with Isak reportedly open to the move—and even pushing for an exit—there’s growing confidence that a deal could still happen.
Two major hurdles remain: Liverpool must return with an improved offer, and Newcastle must find a suitable replacement. RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško is believed to be Eddie Howe’s first choice, with Yoane Wissa (Brentford) and Rodrigo Muniz (Fulham) also on the radar.
For now, Ekitike’s immediate impact is earning praise from those who matter most—his new teammates and coaches—and adds further depth to Liverpool’s attacking options as the new season approaches.
