Liverpool have officially announced their squad numbers ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Arne Slot’s team enters the new campaign as reigning champions and will kick off their title defence against Bournemouth in the season opener at Anfield on August 15.
It’s been a transformative summer for the Reds, who have invested £269 million in new signings. Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike, and Armin Pecsi have all joined the squad, along with goalkeepers Freddie Woodman and Giorgi Mamardashvili, who will serve as backups to Alisson.
Pre-season preparations are well underway, with Liverpool recently defeating Yokohama FM 3-1 in a friendly, thanks to goals from Wirtz, Trey Nyoni, and Rio Ngumoha.
The team will next face Athletic Club on August 4, with two friendlies scheduled on the same day at Anfield. They will then head to Wembley on August 10 to face Crystal Palace in the FA Community Shield.
Speculation continues around a potential move for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. On Thursday, journalist Florian Plettenberg shared an update on X, stating that talks between the two clubs are progressing positively, with Isak’s camp optimistic about a deal. A record fee will likely be needed, but a verbal agreement has reportedly been reached for a contract running through 2031.
On Friday morning, Liverpool released their official squad numbers for the upcoming season.
In a club statement, Liverpool confirmed:
“The seven summer signings have been allocated their squad numbers, while Conor Bradley and Trey Nyoni have opted for changes. Florian Wirtz will wear No.7, following Luis Diaz’s move to Bayern Munich. Milos Kerkez takes No.6, Jeremie Frimpong picks No.30—his number at Bayer Leverkusen—while Hugo Ekitike has chosen No.22.
In goal, Giorgi Mamardashvili is No.25, Freddie Woodman will wear No.28, and Armin Pecsi is No.41.
Conor Bradley has moved from No.84 to No.12, and Trey Nyoni from No.98 to No.42.”
As for Alexander Isak, should he complete a move to Anfield, his potential shirt number remains uncertain. He currently wears No.14 at Newcastle, having previously worn No.19 at Real Sociedad.
If he wishes to keep the No.14 shirt, current holder Federico Chiesa may need to switch numbers or consider leaving, especially amid reports linking him with a return to Italy following an underwhelming debut season.
Alternatively, if Isak prefers No.19, Harvey Elliott may have to relinquish his current number, with his future at Liverpool also subject to speculation.
