Liverpool player likely to leave immediately following Alexander Isak’s arrival

A Liverpool player is expected to depart the club as Alexander Isak’s transfer from Newcastle United nears completion.

This summer, Liverpool have spent heavily, bringing in players like Florian Wirtz for £116 million and Hugo Ekitike.

However, the club has also approved the sales of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and allowed Diogo Jota to move on. Arne Slot has been determined to strengthen his attack, focusing on Isak, who has been the subject of a prolonged transfer saga this summer.

The Isak deal is now close to being finalized, with Liverpool agreeing a British-record fee with Newcastle.

Additionally, Liverpool are working to secure Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace before today’s transfer deadline.

Guehi, who recently played in Palace’s 3-0 win against Aston Villa, is strongly linked with a move to Anfield.

A deal could be completed before the 7pm UK deadline. If Liverpool sign Guehi, Joe Gomez is likely to leave the club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Gomez is poised to join AC Milan if he agrees to the move.

Gomez has explored his options this summer and has become a target for Milan, who need a defender after selling Malick Thiaw to Newcastle.

The 28-year-old defender has been with Liverpool since 2015, making 243 appearances. He came off the bench during Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

After the thrilling victory against Arsenal, Slot was asked about Liverpool’s transfer progress and said he would “probably” know more by Sunday night.

“I’ll probably find out tonight if anything will happen,” he said.

If the Isak and Guehi deals are completed, they will be Liverpool’s eighth and ninth signings this summer.
