Liverpool are interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi during the summer transfer window and may consider including Ben Doak as part of a player-plus-cash offer.
According to a report from Express, Liverpool aim to secure the 24-year-old England international defender, but it’s unclear if Crystal Palace will agree to a deal involving both cash and a player.
Guehi has been impressive for the Eagles and would certainly strengthen Liverpool’s defense. With Jarell Quansah set to join Bayer Leverkusen and Joe Gomez struggling with injuries, Liverpool need a reliable central defender.
Whether Liverpool can finalize the deal remains uncertain.
Guehi is in the final year of his contract, putting pressure on Crystal Palace to sell him rather than risk losing him for free next year. It would be logical for Palace to accept a reasonable offer this summer.
Can Liverpool persuade Crystal Palace?
Palace reportedly want around £50 million for their captain, but Liverpool are reluctant to pay that amount given Guehi’s contract situation. As a result, they’re exploring a player-plus-cash option.
Ben Doak, who doesn’t have a future at Liverpool and was on loan at Middlesbrough last season, needs regular playing time and would benefit from a move. A transfer to Crystal Palace could be ideal if they can offer him sufficient opportunities. It will be interesting to see if both clubs can agree on a mutually beneficial deal.
